Bluestem Book Award (3rd-5th Grades)

“This award is designed for students in grades 3-5 who are ready for longer titles than found on the Monarch list, but not quite ready for the sophistication of some of the Rebecca Caudill titles. Named in honor of Big Bluestem which is the state prairie grass, the award may include both timeless classics and current titles, as well as books that have appeared on Monarch and Rebecca Caudill lists.” -https://aisled.org/bluestem/

High Point Rules and Procedures:

  • All High Point students are eligible to participate in the Bluestem program.

  • You must read at least 4 books off the 2025 nominee list in order to be eligible to vote in March of 2025 - all students will read 4 books in library class!

  • You must read 10 books off the 2025 nominee list to get your picture on our Bluestem Wall of Fame.

  • If you read 20 Bluestem nominees you'll get special recognition on our Bluestem Wall of Fame.

  • To get credit for each Bluestem book you read, you must take and submit the quiz found on Destiny Discover

  • After you've read 10 or 20 Bluestems, let Mrs. Gilbert know. She will check the quizzes and make sure you passed all of them!

  • You could have read the book from anywhere (public library, book store, book fair, teacher read it out loud, etc.) and anytime (today, last year, two years ago, etc.)!
